BIO

Born and raised in North Carolina, Tillery Johnson is an award-winning writer, filmmaker, story consultant, and writing teacher. He has experience developing original concepts as well as adapting IP for production companies across television and digital platforms.

Selected for the prestigious Nickelodeon Writing Program (2016–2017), Tillery went on to serve as a Staff Writer on Netflix’s animated series Glitch Techs. His original pilot Good Lord won Best Comedy Pilot at the 2019 Austin Film Festival, and in 2021 he was named one of AFF’s “Screenwriters to Watch.”

Alongside screenwriting, Tillery teaches the craft of storytelling through deliberate practice — breaking down creativity into clear, teachable tools for writers of all levels. As a consultant, he has helped writers develop projects that have gone on to earn awards, fellowship placements, and premieres at film festivals.

His picture book, "Photos of Invisible Things Against a White Background," has not found a publisher or anybody who cares.
